Lake Fork Baptist Church was started January 27, 1997, as a mission church of First Baptist Church Winnsboro with Brother David Smith as the pastor. The church was almost named "Second Chance Baptist Church" because Brother David believed that each person who joined had been given a "second chance" to live for the Lord.

The first service consisted of eight people. The church met in various buildings around the county until the construction of the first church on November 9, 1997. Within four months the church outgrew its first building and began plans to build another church. A second auditorium was built and the church moved into the new building on October 17, 1999. By this time the church had relinquished its missions status and became an autonomous Southern Baptist Church.

In 2002 the church was building yet another new auditorium. The first service was held in the new auditorium on Easter Sunday 2003.

A new Education Building was completed in June 2008 and was named after the founding pastor: J. David Smith Education Building.

On October 12, 2008, the church called Brother Perry Crisp as Pastor. This small church that began with eight people has grown to over 2000 in membership with a regular attendance of over 700 people. We give God all the glory for the mighty things He has done and continues to do at Lake Fork Baptist Church.

God has done great things at Lake Fork Baptist Church and they are "marvelous in our eyes." The need in our community was far greater than what we had ever anticipated. Our purpose is to "plant" and "water" and leave the "increase" to God.

OUR DESIRE is to have a church that preaches the Gospel of God's grace and love and also serve as a...

  • SPIRITUAL HOSPITAL - For wounded Christians. There are multitudes of Christians who have dropped out of church, sadly to say, because of being hurt or wounded by other Christians.
  • A LIGHTHOUSE - that sends out the light to those who have lost their way and are wandering in their own personal wilderness.
  • SPIRITUAL FILLING STATION - where Christians can find encouragement and strength after being beaten on by the world and assaulted by Satan all week.

To glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to the Word of God, in worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism; and reaching out to the people of Lake Fork - and beyond - so they may become followers of Christ with us.

Our commitment is to "connect" people with God and other people. We do this by following the purpose-driven strategy of going beyond the four walls of the church into the community and by being a service to the community throughout the week. This happens through four basic connections.

1. We are committed to Membership.

2. We are committed to Maturity.

3. We are committed to Ministry.

4. We are committed to Missions.
